A Christmas Eve Reminder of Purpose - Joseph S

Why We Do What We Do At Gerald Subaru of Naperville, our Why is simple: people matter more than transactions. Cars are what we sell, but caring for our neighbors, especially when it truly counts, is who we are. That belief sits at the heart of the Subaru Love Promise and guides how our team shows up every day, even when the doors are technically closed. A Christmas Eve Reminder of Purpose On Christmas Eve morning, Catherine Page set out on what should have been a joyful errand, a quick stop at the grocery store before heading to spend the holiday evening with her son and four grandchildren. For Catherine, a disabled woman in her 80s, this family gathering meant everything. Midway through her drive, her tire pressure warning light illuminated. Concerned about making it safely to her family's home, she made a careful detour to her local Subaru retailer, Gerald Subaru of Naperville, hoping for reassurance before continuing her journey. When Catherine arrived, the service department was closed for the holiday. Unsure what to do next, she waited at the service doors, until two Gerald team members noticed her immediately. Sales Manager JT Thongphadith and Sales Professional Andrew Osbron approached her, not because it was their job in that moment, but because it was the right thing to do. After listening to her situation and understanding the importance of her trip, and her safety, they made a simple decision: we're going to help. They opened the service doors and guided Catherine inside, carefully assisting with her walker and making sure she was comfortable in the customer lounge. JT and Andrew inspected the vehicle and found a nail embedded in the tire in a location that made repair unsafe. With no hesitation, they went to work installing a spare so Catherine could continue her holiday plans with peace of mind. While the tire was being addressed, Andrew took the time to check in on Catherine. During their conversation, she mentioned another small frustration, her key fob no longer worked to unlock her doors. Andrew quietly took her keys, received approval to access the parts department and replaced the key fob batteries on the spot. When he returned the keys and demonstrated that everything worked perfectly, Catherine smiled with relief. About 45 minutes after arriving, on a day when no service was scheduled to be provided, Catherine was safely back on the road. JT arranged for her to return after the holiday so the tire could be professionally replaced and wished her a joyful visit with her family. When Catherine asked what she owed, JT's answer was immediate and heartfelt: "Nothing at all. Have a wonderful holiday, and drive safely." The Love Promise, Lived Catherine's gratitude was sincere, but so was ours. Moments like this remind us why we do what we do. This wasn't about policies, hours, or invoices. It was about ensuring someone felt cared for, respected, and safe when they needed it most. That is the Subaru Love Promise in action, not as a slogan, but as a shared belief, and it's a promise our team is proud to keep, one real story at a time.

Gerald Subaru Provides Hope & Support to Illinois Cancer Patients - Colton L

For the past 10 years, Gerald Subaru has partnered with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) and Rush and Rush Medical's Waterford Place Cancer Resource Center through the Subaru Loves to Care initiative. This partnership includes delivering blankets, messages of hope, and a yearly opportunity for patients and survivors to connect and the Waterford Place. In addition to delivering blankets, notes of hope, and connecting with survivors; Sue Beata (a stage 4 Lymphoma Survivor) shared her cancer experience where she emphasized the power of community and that she has every Subaru blanket dating 10 years. Gerald Subaru Supports Hesed House - Eli T

Imagine having to go without a coat, shoes, or even socks. For millions of children and adults experiencing homelessness and other urgent need situations across the country, even here in Naperville, this can be a harsh reality. Helping others is the key to a strong community which is why Gerald Subaru believes in helping to support individuals and families in urgent need. 6/18/2025 Subaru x Northwestern Medicine Living Well Cancer Resources Love Story - Kristin V

For the past few years, Gerald Subaru has partnered with The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) and Northwestern Medicine Living Well Cancer Resources through the Subaru Loves to Care Initiative. The partnership has involved delivering blankets and messages of hope to cancer patients. On June 18, 2025, Gerald Subaru personally delivered these items to patients in treatment. Northwestern Medicine Living Well Cancer Resources had a gentleman newly diagnosed with lymphoma, who stopped in about an hour after the drop off to return some books he had borrowed from us. We all put a smile on his face and a tear in his eye as he left with his blanket and a powerful message of hope. The generosity has truly made a difference. Thank you, Gerald Subaru, for supporting the blood cancer community, and may the work done today impact people for years to come!

Promoting Health, Fitness and Charitable Giving in the Community - Criag B

Gerald Subaru of Naperville's commitment to our community was in full force once again this past year. As the Charity Program Title Sponsor, their substantial donation and support was a huge part in allowing select, local charity organizations to offer discounts, special amenities, and an overall fun experience to 608 charity runners and walkers. Over $175,000 in donations were used to promote education programs for children in the local communities (Indian Prairie and Naperville Education Foundations), support innovative treatment research for pediatric cancer (Cancer Free Kids), support families in local communities struggling with a member fighting addiction (Path to Recovery), offer faith-based programs for local children and families (Islamic Center of Naperville), and promote education, health and safety, recreation, and faith for children in Kenya (Oasis for Orphans). Beyond the charity impact, Gerald Subaru of Naperville shows us constant support pre-race day and post-race day. Their reputation for providing an exciting atmosphere for participants and a fun post-run photo-op has helped entice thousands of people to gather on a brisk fall morning and run or walk a 5k, 10k, or Half Marathon. Giving an opportunity to celebrate making health and fitness a priority throughout their daily experiences. We are grateful and honored to be able to work with our friends at Gerald Subaru of Naperville year after year to promote health and fitness to all ages, support education, and offer help to others in need.

Bringing Comfort and Hope to those in need - Noemi V

Our team at Hesed House is eternally grateful for the dedication of our friends at Gerald Subaru of Naperville, whose compassion and generosity burned bright throughout the harsh winter season. As locals know, the cold months in Illinois are unforgiving, especially for those facing homelessness who have to brave the elements as a part of their daily lives. The crew at Gerald Subaru of Naperville sees this need, and as a part of the Subaru Loves to Help partnership with Operation Warm, donated 240 coats for our guests. However, their devotion to providing warmth and care didn't stop there; upon learning that we were low on essential cold and flu medicine for our guests, they banded together once more to provide essential cold medicines and cough drops for the Hesed House community. These acts are a reminder that our guests are seen, valued, and cared for by our amazing community. We're honored to call Gerald Subaru of Naperville a part of our Hesed Family. Their dedication to our mission helps end homelessness one person, one family at a time!

Gerald Subaru of Naperville Provides Opportunity - Marion R

The mission of Inside Out Club DuPage (IOCD) is to empower youth to live each day with good character and values with the vision that the youth they serve will make a positive impact on the world. The organization was born in an inspired moment over coffee. Marion Ruthig, the founder of IOCD, grew up in a hectic household of seven kids, watching many of her brothers and sisters struggle inside and out of school due to social and emotional challenges. This led to her passion for education and caring for young people. On July 11, 2012, at a networking breakfast, Marion was moved by a video about a local homeless shelter. Leaving this meeting, she envisioned a Netflix of Nonprofits an organization where anyone could emotionally connect to local charities through video and take the important steps to get involved. Armed with a commitment to help others, she left her career as a CPA and founded I Support Community on September 25th, 2012. The organization was granted 501c(3) charitable status on November 19th, 2012. The organizations evolution has been an amazing journey from filming 20+ local nonprofit stories in 2013 to piloting after-school program at Elmwood Elementary School in 2015 to having over 1,000 students take part in programming during the first two years. So many families in DuPage County joined signing up their children, donating and believing in the power of good character that in 2018, the Inside Out Club Board of Directors decided empowering young people to live each day with good character would be the organizations sole focus, and the organization became Inside Out Club DuPage. In 2022, IOCD introduced Business Designers 4 Good for middle school students and is now working on SkillsBox10, aimed at high school students, with plans for a pilot program in 2024-25. SkillsBox10 completes IOCDs continuum of services for youth ages 3-18. This past year Inside Out Club provided 318 opportunities with 3,628 youth participating, resulting in 7,119 hours of character-building learning and community engagement. Participants created 696 long-distance hugs for soldiers across the world, snuggle bunnies for seniors in need, toys for rescue animals and other service projects to spread kindness and joy. Middle schoolers designed businesses to tutor the homeless, upcycle plastics, support seniors and more through the Business Designers 4 Good program. And, through these experiences the youth served gained critical character and life skills needed for positive mental health and self-sufficiency. All of these opportunities require resources and partners. Community partners like Gerald Subaru of Naperville not only help Inside Out Club reach more students through financial support, but provide those children with an example of kindness, generosity and the power of community. It truly does take a village and were thankful to have Gerald Subaru of Naperville in ours.

Helping Furry Friends Find a Home - Heather K

The West Suburban Humane Society has been partners with Gerald Subaru of Naperville since 2015, and now the dealership is one of our largest partners. Thanks to them, we are able to continually host one of our favorite events every year which is the PURRide Kitten Adoption Event. On the day of the event, we had more than 40 kittens in the adoption center looking for their forever families. Throughout the day, we had up to 20 potential adopters in the room at any one time, looking to find the perfect kitten. One of the most memorable moments of the day involved a sweet little girl named Edie. It was her birthday, and to her surprise, her parents brought her to the event, not revealing where they were going until they arrived. The excitement in her eyes upon entering the center was truly heartwarming. After spending almost an hour in the room, Edie and her family made the decision to adopt not just one, but two kittens. They welcomed Lemon Bean, a charming 2.5-month-old tri color tabby, and Bomb Pop, an adorable 2.5-month-old gray and white kitten, into their family. Events like these are made possible by the generous support of sponsors like Gerald Subaru of Naperville. Thanks to their contribution, over a dozen kittens found their forever homes that day, bringing immeasurable joy to both the kittens and their new families!

Sharing Love and Support for the Community - Jason A

No business has had a more significant impact on Little Friends and our community over the past five years than Gerald Subaru of Naperville. We have reported in the past how the dealership provided us with a significant lift as we struggled, like many businesses, to regain our footing during COVID-19. We had only one donation in April 2020 after the pandemic was officially announced, and that investment was from Gerald Subaru of Naperville. The dealership was there for us in perhaps our darkest hour, and we are both humbled and grateful for this. The men and women of Gerald Subaru of Naperville could have stopped after their significant donation during COVID-19, but their story with us continues. With the proceeds from last years Share the Love campaign, they enabled us to do something we had never done before. Nearly 200 of our staff and their families enjoyed a day at the ballpark with the Kane County Cougars, thanks to the dealership's contributions. Our staff works on the front lines to provide critical support and essential resources for children, adults, and families diagnosed with autism and intellectual/developmental disabilities. Having a day at the ballpark was a wonderful tonic that provided stress relief from the everyday demands of work. This showed us how its more than selling cars at Gerald Subaru of Naperville. They proudly focus their impact on people, and that has enriched our community in significant ways. Little Friends is honored to have partnered with the dealership for more than 40 years. We have stood side by side to weather storms, celebrate achievements, and build communities for many years. The men and women at Gerald Subaru of Naperville are like family to us and we are proud of what we have accomplished together.

Helping Hands from Gerald Subaru of Naperville - Noemi V

Our friends at Gerald Subaru of Naperville helped us care for our guests this past winter! The winters in Illinois are rough, especially for individuals facing homelessness. When the team of Gerald Subaru of Naperville were delivering jackets for our kiddos, I briefly shared how our Outreach team was having to give out hand warmers to a lot of individuals facing homelessness in our community. It was not long before they volunteered to do a donation drive for hand warmers for Hesed House! We are so grateful for these donations because it not only provided warmth for our guests, but it shows their continued dedication to our mission. Every time their team comes on-site, they treat our guests with dignity and look for ways they can engage with us one step further. We are proud to call the Gerald team, and everyone who supports the Subaru Share the Love Campaign, part of the #hesedfamily as we care for our neighbors in need!

Gerald Subaru gives Love & Hope to cancer patients - Simone P

For years, Gerald Subaru has stood as a pillar of community support through its partnership with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) and Waterford Place Cancer Resource Center, as part of the Subaru Loves to Care initiative. This program is devoted to providing comfort and encouragement to cancer patients by delivering warm blankets, essential care kits, and heartfelt notes. On July 22nd, the Gerald Subaru team made a heartfelt visit to Waterford Place Cancer Resource Center. The day was marked by a generous donation of 80 blankets and handwritten messages of hope from their customers. These items, collected during the 2024 Subaru Loves to Care campaign, were intended to offer warmth, supplies, and a boost of morale to those undergoing treatment. The visit had a profound effect on both patients and their families, showcasing the power of community support. This initiative not only delivers practical help but also builds a sense of solidarity and hope in the battle against cancer. Gerald Subarus commitment to this cause highlights their dedication to making a meaningful impact in the lives of those fighting cancer. Each year, Subaru and its loyal customers continue to show their belief in spreading compassion through every act of kindness.

Loving the Earth with The Conservation Foundation - Abby B

Healthy, clean water is intricately tied to healthy communities and our quality of life. River and watershed protection is a core component of The Conservation Foundations mission. The annual DuPage River Sweep is a self-coordinated stream cleanup held each spring throughout DuPage County and parts of Will County along the DuPage River. The first River Sweep was held in 1991, and over the past 30+ years, more than 14,000 volunteers have removed nearly 300 tons of garbage from our rivers and streams. Our River Sweep volunteers make a difference right here and right now! From poster printing to garbage bags and pickers, every seemingly mundane purchase plays a crucial role in empowering volunteers to make a tangible difference in their local environment. This is where the generosity of companies like Gerald Subaru of Naperville becomes indispensable. It's through these practical yet vital investments that the DuPage River Sweep is able to mobilize hundreds of individuals, transforming them into passionate advocates for environmental conservation. Yoshi finds a home! - Heather K

The West Suburban Humane Society (WSHS) has partnered with Gerald Subaru of Naperville since 2015, and it's not surprising that Subaru has become one of WSHS's largest partners. The year's biggest collaboration is our October month-long "Subaru Loves Pets" promotion, which included our October 21st Adoption event at Gerald Subaru of Naperville (2379 Aurora Ave, Naperville, IL 60540). Our month-long promotion included a 'spin-the-wheel' for an adoption discount, special giveaways all month, and the event at Subaru. In total, we adopted 57 animals in October 2023, a 15% increase over October 2022 and our highest October adoption level since 2015. Dozens of people visited our animals at the adoption event (we distributed more than 30 giveaway bags to families!), and both staff and visitors loved meeting our animals. Our first visitors of the day were Natalia Boettcher and her husband Kyle Cepeda, who had seen our promotions about Yoshi, a 3-year-old lab-retriever mix. Natalia tells us "We were so excited to meet Yoshi after seeing him on the WSHS website and social media, and felt like he would be a great fit for our family. We wanted to be the first to meet him so we made sure to arrive as soon as the event started. The WSHS team was extremely helpful in introducing us to Yoshi, letting us spend some quality time with him, and answering all our questions. We also received some adoption goodies from the kind folks at Gerald Subaru, and Yoshi was especially excited about the toys! Yoshi has been adjusting well to life in his new home. He is a goofy boy that loves playing tug-of-war and napping on the couch. The WSHS counselors told us he is highly food motivated, and we've seen that first hand with how excited he is for treats! We are grateful to have him join our family."

Building Character and Kindness with Gerald Subaru of Naperville - Marion R

Inside Out Club empowers children to live each day with good character: acceptance, curiosity, collaboration, empathy, gratitude, kindness, perseverance, and self-awareness. Our vision and reality is that these children make the world a better place. On Sunday September 24th, 2023 over 150 walkers and runners of all ages came together in support of Inside Out Club's mission to empower kids to live each day with good character by taking part in their 8th Fall Family 5K. What makes this 5K event unique is the community it builds! Kids bond with others in the Kindness Village while playing bags, Giant Jenga or trying out the hula-hoops. Adults reconnect over a cup of coffee or apple cider donut. The atmosphere brings joy to everyone through the bubbles showering runners and walkers, the young volunteers in costumes and the kids fun run! Together, this event raised more than $13,000 in support! Providing over 80 opportunities that results in over 5,000 hours of character building education a year requires resources and community support. Gerald Subaru of Naperville has become a part of the Inside Out Club mission through it's generosity, kindness and actions. Without supporters like Gerald Subaru of Naperville, Inside Out Club would not be able to offer there programs to all regardless of their ability to pay.

Planting Seeds for a Sustainable Future with the Help of Gerald Subaru of Naperville - Abby B

Our mission at The Conservation Foundation, put simply, is we save land, we save rivers. But unless our neighbors support preserving open space, cleaning rivers and streams, and inviting nature into our neighborhoods, saving land and rivers is impossible. Its not enough to restore the environment, we must change culture and create a community of conservation.   Like a steadfast companion on in this effort, Subaru had long been a driving force in creating a community of Earth-loving, outdoor enthusiasts. Their commitment to the environment has become a beacon of hope, inspiring others to embrace the beauty of nature and join the journey of conservation.   Most recently, Gerald Subaru of Naperville has sponsored our annual Earth Day Benefit Dinner and the DuPage River Sweep. New Furry Family Member Found at Gerald Subaru - Heather K

Kathy and Ed were out running errands last October when they noticed the signs for our adoption event at Gerald Subaru of Naperville. Kathy said, "We have to stop in!" Their dog had passed away a few years ago, and they had been thinking about another dog, but never took action, until fate led them to our event. They fell in love with Avi, a bully mix, at first sight! However, they were planning a trip and were unable to make a commitment to him when they were leaving right away. Kathy loved him so much that she even sent a picture to her brother to see if he would adopt him. Avi was always on their mind - they knew he would be a perfect fit for their family! A week or so after their trip, they came to our adoption center to start the paperwork to bring him home. Kathy says that he is a 'big lap dog', who sits between them on the couch so that they can both pet him and cuddle with him, and nudges them to 'keep going' if they stop. During the day he sleeps on the bed near Kathy while she works from home, always keeping a watchful eye on his mom. We are so grateful to Gerald Subaru of Napervile for all of their support of our animals, in October and all year long!

Foxxie Bella Finds Her Forever Home! - Carolyn M

Through our partnership with Gerald Subaru of Naperville, we hosted an adoption event on October 22, 2022. We bought twelve adoptable dogs to Gerald Subaru of Naperville and by the end of the event, West Suburban Humane Society and Gerald Subaru helped five dogs find their perfect, loving home. One adoption in particular was special. Josephine and her granddaughter came to the adoption event with an open mind and heart. As soon as Josephine saw Foxxie Bella, a six-year-old Papillon it was love at first sight! Josephine adopted her and we have since received the following update: "I love little Foxxie Bella so much!!! Thank you all for helping me find her. She has adapted to my home, family and with my daughters dog Penelope. I have a vet appointment for her in November. You cannot know the joy she has brought me. I hope that you know how important your work is to all of us who treasure Gods special creatures."
